Create a MySQL database on your host site by logging on through the control panel. 5. Navigate to your site name (www.yourforum.yourhostsite.com/forumdirectory/install.php) to install and configure your forums. 6. Using your FTP client, go to config.php and properties to set the CHMOD settings to 666 (only for phpBB 2). 7. Complete the instructions found in install.php. 8. Now, go back to the config.php via FTP client and reset the properties in CHMOD to 644 (only for phpBB 2). 9. Delete the install and contrib directories. 10. Navigate to www.yourforum.yourhostsite.com/forumdirectory/index.php. 11. Login and proceed to the admin panel to customize your forums. Not exactly a walk in the park. In fact, you need to know things like: FTP, PHP, MySQL, and CHMOD mentioned above. This process is not as difficult as it used to be, believe it or not. A Better Way.
