How to Bring Traffic to Your Blog or Website Now that you have your website set up, you are really faced with a problem: how to bring visitors to your blog or website. Most people want traffic so that they can get ad revenues from Google. And, you cannot blame them. At first, the creation of the blog or website was because they were passionate about something and wanted to tell the world or rant about it. But now that they have discovered that money can be made, the race is on. There are six principles that you must use in order to build up traffic to your site. Here they are in no particular order: Make Original Content. If you are indeed passionate about something and are a reasonably good writer, you already have two very important ingredients for bringing in web traffic. Particularly, if the topics that you write about are helpful and useful to the general public you will have a natural draw. You need to hone your skills at being a problem solver, and information source in order to keep their interest. Supplying them with ideas that will help reach goals is also very important. Be Keyword Savvy. Learn about keywords. If you go to Google and type in ‘keywords’ you will find all types of information about keywords and how they work. Become skilled at using them. These keywords are useful because when someone searches for information on Google, for example, if you have implemented keywords correctly, you can find yourself at the top of a search list. And that is a sure way to get visitors to your site. Link Often. Find other websites that have similar information and exchange links with them. It is the old ‘you scratch my back, I will scratch yours’ plan. By having links on both sites, you can benefit from visitors that started out there, and then jumped to your site and vice versa. Tell the World. When most people hear the word ‘advertising’ they immediately think that they have to spend money. That’s not the case. There are plenty of ways to get your blog or website name out there at no charge. Use free forums to get your name out there. Now, you have to be careful because most forums do not allow overt advertising, but when you create your profile, most forums will allow you to place a link after your name, so that every time you perform a post, or reply to a post, your link will be right there in front of the readers. Submit articles that you write to ezines. Even if they pay next to nothing, the true value lies in having your name and website advertised for free. Use offline techniques as well. Let people in your family and community know what you are doing by purchasing business cards to hand out and post in grocery stores. Offer Free Items. For whatever reason, freebies create traffic. But, make sure your giveaways are of value. Try to find a report that you can purchase or better yet, write one yourself. You could even publish an ebook. Use this as bait to get people to visit your site. Find a piece of software that you can give away for free (watch licensing restrictions here). Give away personal training or tutoring on your topics. Try to keep the items in line with your passion and theme of your website. Stay Long Term. Be prepared to stay in this for the long term. You cannot build a successful online presence in a day. Or even a few weeks. It takes months of patience and hard work to even get to the point of having a medium amount of web traffic. In this time, however, if you keep looking and building up contacts, you will discover new ways to help drive traffic to your site with free blog directory . With these tips, you can generate a solid amount of traffic that will help you be successful in whatever way you define that word. Just keep at it and be willing to always learn more as you go along.
